The Curriculum

Key Stage 3

The key stage three course has changed over the last year and now the focus is more on thinking skills.  Pupils are taught around 3 big topics a year. In year 7 these include: map skills, Wales and settlement, year 8: Rivers, weather and climate and development. In year 9 pupils study: volcanoes and earthquakes, tourism, crime and global warming.

Key Stage 4

The G.C.S.E curriculum is changing in September 2009. Here pupils will study 6 topics in year 10 with the option of sitting an examination at the end of the year. Then in year 11 they study 3 different topics and they will also complete their internal assessment which has replaced the coursework. All pupils work has to be completed in class for this, to avoid cheating.

Extra curricular activities and misc information
Pupils are given the  opportunity in year 10 to go on a fieldtrip as part of their coursework. The hope is for pupils lower down the school to be given the opportunity to go on fieldtrips also
