Choosing a secondary school for your son or daughter is one of the most important decisions that a parent has to make.
Obvouisly we feel that Balengwawr is the right choice for pupils of all abiltiies. But we are not alone in thinking this. At present 29.5 percent of our pupils attend from outside the catchment area.
The Local Authority conducts the admission procedures and below we have included some of the comments that parents made on their applications for admission in 2009.
• I am extremely impressed by the transitional programmes put in place by Blaengwawr, and also very happy with the effort they put in
with parent, child and teaching staff consultations.
• I would like my son to go to Blaengwawr as it was the school I attended; it is also a mixed sex school which I believe is preferable.
• The
sports facility and school’s facilities are very good and the school’s attitudes towards children are up to date and their policy on truancy
is very good.
• ... also the education and discipline is second to none at this school.
• It has facilities for wheelchair users, has a better attitude towards disabled children, and I like the way they deal
with bullies.
• As parents, we went, as did her uncles, aunts, cousins - and her two brothers are still attending.
A great school.
• Blaengwawr has given exceptional support to both her sister and myself. The staff are very understanding and are
easy to
communicate with. My daughter will benefit greatly from being placed there.
• Due to our son needing help and support with his work and behaviour we would like him to go to a school that can provide it.
• I want my son to go to Blaengwawr as his sister and brother both attend the school, and have achieved excellent results.
• Our eldest son attended Blaengwawr school, and attained good GCSE results. He also enjoyed his time at the school. Our hope is that
our son will also achieve happiness and good grades.
• My child would love to go to Blaengwawr Comprehensive.
